OneBeacon Introduces Driver Injury Protection Program for Uber Driver-Partners
OneBeacon Accident and Health, a member of OneBeacon Insurance Group, has introduced a first-of-its-kind product targeting the sharing economy. Driver Injury Protection, an occupational accident insurance program tailored for Uber ride-share drivers, provides up to $1 million in benefits for covered expenses. The program was developed in partnership with Uber and Aon.
Uber drivers can elect coverage through the Uber mobile app and pay an affordable usage-based per mile rate. The coverage is underwritten by Atlantic Specialty Insurance Company and is currently available in a majority of U.S. states.

With our deep experience in the transportation industry, we partnered with Uber to design a new occupational accident product specifically for Uber’s driver-partners, who are independent contractors. This insurance provides Uber driver-partners a financial backstop if a covered accident occurs while they are online with the Uber app. We look forward to moving forward more broadly with this program and the emerging sharing economy segment.”
