Nicholas Bernardout has been appointed Divisional Director, International Property Treaty of Patria Re. His professional reinsurance career spans more than 25 years underwriting property treaty lines with global responsibilities for clients worldwide. Most recently, Nick was Head of Property Treaty and was part of the original team that established Berkley Re UK in 2011, serving clients across Europe, the Caribbean and Middle East North Africa (MENA) region. Through his industry tenure, he holds a broad knowledge of various reinsurance classes having led property treaty underwriting activities at Chaucer Syndicate, Hartford Re, and Mercantile and General Re for their respective global portfolios.
Ross Bertossi joined Chubb as Vice President of Global Underwriting on July 12, 2017. He is responsible for advancing underwriting excellence across the company, including general underwriting policy and underwriting management best practices. Ross will also have oversight of Chubb's global product boards and portfolio management process. He will report to John Keogh, Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer. Ross has more than 30 years of insurance and underwriting management experience.
Jack Bunting has been appointed Assistant Underwriter, International Property Treaty of Patria Re. He joins Patria Re from Berkley Re where he was an Assistant Underwriter for Nicholas Bernardout’s Property Treaty team for more than four years.
Lou Capparelli joined Chubb as Executive Vice President, Chubb Global Casualty Field Operations on July 13, 2017. He previously served as Senior Vice President, Chubb Global Casualty. Lou will now oversee all field operations for the business unit. He will spearhead efforts to implement strategies centered on delivering Chubb Global Casualty’s full range of capabilities and services to distribution partners in Chubb’s U.S. and Canadian branch offices. All branch managers supporting Chubb Global Casualty will report to Lou, while as he will report to Bill Rabl, Executive Vice President, Chubb Global Casualty.
Rani Christie has been named by Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty as its South Zone Executive for North America effective immediately. He takes over responsibility for the South from Helen Leonard, who will retire at the end of July. Rani will report to Bill Scaldaferri, AGCS North America President & CEO. As South Zone Executive, he will lead and execute local business strategies, plans and initiatives, with a key focus on people and products, communication, distribution, markets and customers across all lines of business in the region. Rani joined AGCS in late 2015 as Head of Global Partnerships for North America and was later appointed Regional Head of Sales and Client Management for North America. In this new role, he will continue to serve as a key point of contact for global brokers and key clients as well as working more closely with brokers in the South Zone. Rani is a seasoned executive offering more than 20 years of experience in a variety of industries and was formerly a Managing Director of Euler Hermes (EH) California, where he was responsible for operational and financial oversight of this newly-formed business unit.
Yosha DeLong joined Zurich North America as Vice President, Cyber Underwriting on June 15, 2017. She leads the continued development of these cyber risk efforts, which includes coordinating and monitoring cyber as a peril across all lines of business. Yosha also is accountable for the performance of the Security & Privacy portfolio through technical underwriting strategy and governance; product development; risk selection; and pricing. Reporting to Joe Sullivan, Technical Director, Professional, Health, Accident and Warranty, she is based in Schaumburg, IL, but will spend time in New York, New Jersey and Chicago as well. Yosha was most recently the London Regional Executive for Ironshore Europe Limited, overseeing all IronPro product lines for U.S. business written through London. She has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry having worked as both an underwriter and broker.
Thomas Dilley has been appointed by Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) as Head of Financial Institutions in Southern Europe. He joins BHSI after 12 years at Ace (then Chubb), where he held a variety of roles within the Financial Institutions team, most recently Head of Financial Institutions, UK and Ireland. Throughout Tom’s career, he has underwritten a broad scope of international financial institutions, specializing in investment management business.
Brian Farr has been named leader of the Environmental unit within Everest Insurance. He is charged with expanding the Everest Insurance Environmental product breadth, appetite, and distribution footprint in North America. Brian initially joined Everest in November 2015 as Vice President in the corporate underwriting department from Aspen Insurance, where he oversaw casualty and environmental underwriting in Aspen’s U.S. headquarters in New York City.
Lee Farrow joined Chubb as Executive Vice President and Life Sciences Industry Practice Leader for North America on July 18, 2017. He will continue to lead the full spectrum of areas that produce and support Chubb’s Life Sciences business, including its specialty in insuring companies for their worldwide exposures and placing of local admitted clinical trial policies around the globe. Lee will report to Jim West, Executive Vice President, North America Industry Practice Leader. He has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry and has held positions in claims, underwriting and house counsel.
Joseph Fobert joined Chubb as Executive Vice President, Chubb Excess Casualty on July 13, 2017. He will lead and handle all day-to-day management and field operations for Chubb’s Excess Casualty business unit. All excess casualty underwriting segments will report to Joseph. He will report to Bill Hazelton, Executive Vice President of Chubb Construction Industry Practice, Environmental and Excess Casualty.
John Paul “JP” Graziano was promoted as resident sales director in Aon’s Chicago office on August 1, 2017. He will help clients grow by developing and implementing innovative risk, retirement, and health solutions that positively impact the organizations, their employees, and stakeholders. Prior to this role, JP served as Vice President at Aon Risk Solutions, where he was responsible for new business development.
Chris Hartnett joined Lockton as Producer on April 24, 2017. He has 23 years of experience in the industry. Chris will help Lockton grow quickly in the Nashville market with his leadership and insight on employee benefits. In his previous role with Harden, he was responsible for managing sales, directing client relationships across a multi-state geographic region and the recruitment and development of new Producers.
Kelly Hartweg has been appointed Executive Director of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation Midwest Division. She is responsible for all operations of the Midwest Division and will focus on expansion and growth of the Division. Additionally, Kelly will work closely with the Executive Committee and Board of Directors ensuring the furthering of the IICF brand and IICF mission of providing grants, volunteer service and leadership. She comes to IICF with a distinguished professional career in both corporate and nonprofit organizations, most recently working as an independent consultant supporting outstanding nonprofits, including Ronald McDonald House Charities.
William Hazelton joined as Executive Vice President of Chubb Construction Industry Practice, Environmental and Excess Casualty on July 13, 2017. He will oversee Chubb’s Excess Casualty business operations. Bill will continue to lead and retain current responsibilities for Chubb’s Construction Industry Practice, Environmental and Primary and Excess Construction lines of business. He will report to Chris Maleno, Senior Vice President, Chubb Group and Division President, North America Major Accounts.
Amber Kennelly joined Hub International as Chief Human Resources Officer on June 26, 2017. She is responsible for strategic HR initiatives including talent acquisition and management, learning and development, employee relations, compensation, employee benefits and payroll. Amber serves on HUB’s executive management team and reports directly to Martin Hughes, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer.
Neeley Klubert joined USI Insurance as Account Executive on July 5, 2017. She has over 10 years of experience in the employee benefits field. Most recently, Neeley was the Director of Ancillary Sales and Marketing for Medical Mutual of Ohio. She is an associate board member of Shoes and Clothes for Kids, the only non-profit organization in Cleveland providing new shoes and clothes at no charge for thousands of children in need and was in the 2012 class of Cleveland Bridge Builders, a 10 month leadership program that prepares mid-career professionals of all ages for meaningful, fulfilling and impactful engagement in the community.
Lou Ann Layton was named Southeast Zone Leader of Marsh on July 24, 2017. She is responsible for client initiatives, new business, and talent development across the District of Columbia and eight states: Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Lou Ann, who most recently served as Marsh’s Pacific North Partnership Leader in San Francisco, has relocated to Atlanta and now reports to Martin South, President, U.S. and Canada.
Marie-Louise D. Lundqvist will lead R-T Specialty’s Hawaii office. She began her career as a Commercial Underwriter working on all lines of business and continued in the insurance industry as a Binding Authority Underwriter which she continues at R-T Specialty.
Seraina Macia was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of AIG, effective immediately. She will report to AIG President and CEO Brian Duperreault, and serve on the company’s Executive Leadership Team (ELT). Seraina joins AIG from Hamilton USA, where she was appointed CEO in 2016. Prior to this, she held executive positions at AIG, including CEO and Executive Vice President of Regional Management & Operations, and was a member of AIG’s ELT. Prior to this role, Seraina was CEO and President of AIG’s EMEA region, with responsibility for 47 countries across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Her increasingly senior roles in the insurance industry have included CEO of XL Insurance North America, President of Zurich North America Commercial Specialties business, and Head of Investor Relations and Rating Agency Management of Zurich Insurance Group.
Joe Martin has joined Everest Insurance as Vice President, Credit and Political Risk. He joins Everest from Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), where he was a Director responsible for originating and structuring export credit and multilateral agency backed cross-border business, including trade and project finance transactions worldwide. Prior to his six years with MUFG, Joe’s experience includes working as a Senior Project Officer in the Project Finance Division of the Export-Import Bank of the United States; a Senior Credit and Political Risk Underwriter at Zurich; and an International Bank Examiner with the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.
Vanessa Maxwell has been appointed Head of Professional Indemnity & Cyber Insurance of Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI). She comes to BHSI after 15 years at AIG, where she was most recently Head of Professional Liability, Cyber and Commercial Institutions, UK. Before that Vanessa was Underwriting Manager (Financial Institutions) for North American Executive Liability Lines, and Underwriting Manager (Professional Liability) at AIG in New York.
Michelle McLaughlin was named by Chubb as Executive Vice President, Property Manager, North America Commercial Insurance on July 20, 2017. She will oversee the retail commercial property and package property insurance business that serves the middle market in North America, through Chubb’s 48 offices in the United States and Canada. She has more than 25 years of insurance experience.
Sean McVay has joined Everest Re as Vice President and Environmental Monoline Products Leader. He reports to Brian Farr. Sean will be responsible for implementing and growing the monoline pollution products segment for Everest Insurance. Prior to joining Everest, he held roles of increasing responsibility with Navigators, AXIS and ACE USA, focusing on environmental underwriting and management. Sean began his career in Seattle working for Marsh and AIG.
Jill Olds was appointed by Aon as Senior Vice President. She is responsible for empowering results for businesses in the greater Indianapolis market by delivering innovative and effective solutions to support employer health strategies and address complex employee health and benefit issues. Prior to this role, Jill led the design, implementation and administration of the employee benefits programs at Cummins Inc., including healthcare and wellness strategy, onsite health clinics and employee communications.
Tim Phillips has joined Sompo Canopius as Credit and Political Risk Underwriter in August 2017. He will underwrite a broad spectrum of credit and political risks. Tim has over 20 years of experience in financial services and has an encyclopedic knowledge of the complexity of credit risk; with a detailed understanding of the country and market risk, operational, regulatory and other issues that have to be taken into account.
Bill Rabl joined Chubb as Executive Vice President, Chubb Global Casualty on July 13, 2017. He will lead Chubb’s Global Casualty business unit. In this new expanded role, Bill will have overall responsibility and oversight of the day-to-day operations for Chubb’s full range of global primary casualty coverage offerings and service solutions for U.S. and Canadian domiciled large national and multinational companies. He joined ACE in 2002 and previously served as Chief Operating Officer for Chubb’s Global Casualty business. Bill will report to Matt Merna, Chief Operating Officer, North America Major Accounts.
Thomas Rea was appointed to Vice President, Professional Liability Product Head of Hiscox USA on July 12, 2017. He has 20 years of professional liability experience and joins Hiscox after seven years at Travelers as Underwriting Director, where he managed their national MPL and Real Estate E&O portfolios.
Joseph Reynolds was appointed by Hiscox USA to Vice President, Architects and Engineers Product Head on July 12, 2017. He has 15 years of insurance and product leadership experience and joins Hiscox after three years at XL Group as Vice President and A&E Product Head, where he managed one of the largest Architects & Engineers E&O portfolios in North America.
Scott Scherer joined TLB Insurance Services as Employee Benefits Agent on July 17, 2017. He started his insurance career in 1999 working for a national insurance carrier as the Regional Vice President. Scott has worked for several large agencies focusing on life, health and investment products. He held a position as Vice President of Sport and Entertainment educating pro athletes, entertainers, insurance agents and financial planners on insurance and income strategies. Scott was President and owner of Hall of Fame Benefits offering Employee Benefits products and services. He provides a consultative approach to providing the most efficient benefit solutions for clients and their families.
Scott Schneider has joined GBS Benefits as President. He brings an added dynamic to the management team with his diverse background in finance, underwriting, and sales. Most recently, Scott served as the Vice President of sales and marketing for SelectHealth, with additional responsibilities for community benefit, health promotion, and wellness. He has more than 20 years of sales, marketing, underwriting, and actuarial experience, including past roles at SelectHealth as the Director of large employer sales and the Director of large employer underwriting.
Michael Smith joined Church Mutual Insurance Company as Vice president - Secretary and General Counsel on June 29, 2017. He provides strategic direction and counsel for all corporate legal activities nationwide. Michael has 15 years of experience as a corporate attorney and nearly 25 years of experience in the insurance industry.
James Spears has returned to Lockton as a Producer in the St. Louis Series. He first joined Lockton as an Account Executive in 2008. In his new role, James will help grow Lockton’s transportation and logistics, construction, real estate, manufacturing, professional services and higher education markets in the Midwest.
Bill Stewart joined Chubb as Division President, Global Cyber Risk Practice on July 5, 2017. As Division President of Chubb's Global Cyber Risk Practice, he will lead the development and implementation of Chubb’s strategy to deliver the next generation full suite of property and casualty cyber insurance offerings, worldwide. In addition, Bill will collaborate with David Cowart, Chubb's Chief Information Security Officer and the Enterprise Risk Management team in developing cyber security best practices for the company. With nearly three decades of experience, he most recently served as Executive Vice President at Booz Allen Hamilton, where he was responsible for the firm’s Commercial Cyber Business. From 2013 to 2015, Bill led Booz Allen’s commercial financial services business. Earlier, he worked for RCA where he developed communications security and key management devices.
Peter Wallace has joined Castel Specialty Underwriter – Construction in May 2017. Prior to joining Castel Specialty, he was CAR and EAR underwriter with Munich Re, writing across all sizes of risks on a global basis. Previously, Peter was underwriting and claims manager for the Middle East and North Africa with Infrassure, a prime infrastructure insurer specialist. He is a chartered civil engineer with extensive global construction and major infrastructure project experience.
Alexander Wells joined Chubb as Regional Manager, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, North America Commercial Insurance on July 17, 2017. He will be responsible for executing the underwriting and sales strategies of this business unit, as well as staff management, production, profit and loss, and distribution management. Alex will report to C. Scott Gunter, Senior Vice President, Chubb Group and Division President, North America Commercial Insurance. He has more than 25 years of experience working in the insurance industry.
Michael Westwood joined Marsh as President of Marsh Sponsored Programs on July 17, 2017. He will focus on growing Marsh Sponsored Program’s U.S. business through product innovation and client engagement. Michael brings to the role 20 years of experience and expertise in strategy and operations in the affinity sector.
Jason A. Witthun will lead R-T Specialty’s new office in Hawaii. He has a diverse and well-rounded background having started his career in London broking multiple lines, then moved to the U.S. and focused on South American business, and most recently has been in Hawaii as a commercial lines underwriter and E&S broker.
Christina Zapantoulis joined Lockton as Northeast Marine Team Leader on July 11, 2017. She will help clients develop risk management strategies and structure, negotiate, and implement complex marine insurance programs. Christina will also lead a team of marine insurance professionals. She has deep experience in cargo, marine, builder’s risk and complex property programs.
